A red light therapy panel is a flat LED array that treats one area of the body at a time. Most panels cost $99 to $1,800. We do not sell panels today. If you need full-body sessions for a business, look at our commercial bed, the Superhuman Light R1.

Consumer panels vs clinic panels

Panels span a wide range. The labels “home” and “clinic” are set by the seller, not by any standard, so read the spec sheet.

Consumer panels Clinic-style panels
Typical price $99–600 $600–1,800
Size Handheld to tabletop Half-body to full-height, often linkable
Wavelengths Often 1–2 (e.g. 660 and 850 nm) Often 3–5 across red and near-infrared
Mounting Stand or door hook Floor stand, wall mount or rack
Built for Short daily sessions at home More hours per day, several users
Warranty Often 1–3 years, home use Varies; confirm commercial use is covered

Two points matter more than the label:

  • Irradiance with a stated distance. A panel may claim a high mW/cm² figure measured right at the lens. At a normal standing distance the real number is much lower. Ask how it was measured.
  • Commercial use terms. Many panels are sold for personal use. If clients will use it, check that the warranty allows that.

Be wary of the phrase “medical grade”. It has no official definition. Some specific devices hold an FDA 510(k) clearance for a specific use. That is different from a device being registered or listed with the FDA, which is not a clearance. More on this in our medical grade red light therapy guide.

Panel price bands

Band Price What you get
Entry $99–300 Small panel or handheld, face or one joint
Mid $300–900 Half-body panel, 2–3 wavelengths
Upper $900–1,800 Full-height panel or linked set, more wavelengths

For comparison, home beds cost about $1,400 to $22,000 and commercial beds start around $15,000. Our red light therapy bed cost guide shows every tier side by side.

When a panel beats a bed

A panel is the better buy when:

  • Budget is under $2,000. No bed comes close to that price.
  • Space is tight. A panel fits against a wall. A full-body bed needs a room of about 3 × 2 m.
  • You want one area. Face, one joint or one muscle group. A panel is enough.
  • It is an add-on. A panel can sit in an existing facial or massage room and run during another service.
  • No electrical work. Most panels plug into a normal outlet.

When a bed beats a panel

A bed is the better buy when:

  • You sell full-body sessions. A bed covers the front and back at once. With a panel, the guest has to turn or stand in front of it twice.
  • Staff time matters. A guest lies down, the session runs, and no one needs to reposition anything.
  • You want a standalone service. A private bed session is easier to price at $20 to $100 than a few minutes in front of a panel.
  • You need throughput. A commercial bed runs back-to-back sessions all day. The R1 serves up to 3 guests an hour.
  • The experience is the product. Guests expect a spa or studio to offer something they cannot buy for home.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does a red light therapy panel cost?

Most consumer and clinic panels cost between $99 and $1,800. Small handheld and tabletop units sit at the low end. Large full-height panels and linked multi-panel setups sit at the top.

Do you sell red light therapy panels?

Not today. We sell one product, the Superhuman Light R1, a commercial full-body bed. If you need full-body sessions for paying guests, the R1 is the product to look at.

Is a panel or a bed better for a spa?

A panel fits a small treatment room or an add-on to a facial. A bed treats the whole body, front and back, in one session with no staff repositioning, which is easier to sell as a standalone service.

How far should you stand from a panel?

Follow the maker's instructions. Output drops fast with distance, so irradiance figures only make sense when the measuring distance is stated.
