Installing the Superhuman Light R1 takes one day on site. Before that day, you need two things ready: a room of about 3.0 × 2.2 m with ventilation or AC, and a dedicated 40 A circuit put in by your electrician. Delivery, positioning, commissioning and training are included in the price.

Lead time is typically a few weeks, confirmed at order.
Step 1: Fit check
We start with a short fit check, by video call or photos. We look at:
- Room size. The R1 is 2.2 × 1.2 m and 1.1 m high closed. We recommend a room of about 3.0 × 2.2 m (roughly 10 × 7 ft) so staff can walk around it and the lid can open fully.
- Access route. Door widths, corridors, turns, stairs and lifts from the curb to the room.
- Floor. A level, solid floor. The bed has a weight capacity of about 270 kg (600 lb) for the guest, plus its own weight.
- Power and heat. Where the circuit will run and how the room is cooled.
If something will not work, we tell you before you pay, not on install day.
Step 2: Electrical
The R1 needs a dedicated 208–240 V single-phase circuit on a 40 A breaker. It draws about 5.5 kW. Dedicated means nothing else shares that circuit.
We send an electrical spec sheet for your licensed electrician. They install the circuit and outlet or connection point before delivery, to local code. Electrical listing documentation comes with your written quote, which your electrician or inspector may ask for.
Step 3: Ventilation and AC
LED beds convert most of their power to light and some to heat. Over a full day of sessions, a small closed room gets warm. Plan for:
- Ventilation or AC sized for about 5.5 kW of extra heat at full use.
- A thermostat in the room, not only in the hallway.
- Airflow that keeps the guest comfortable and the electronics cool.
If you are unsure, ask your HVAC contractor to size it. Running cost for the bed itself is about $60–120 per month in electricity.
Step 4: Delivery and positioning
Our team delivers the bed to the room, unpacks it, moves it into place and levels it. We take the packaging away. Tell us in advance about loading docks, building access hours or lift bookings.
Step 5: Commissioning
Once the bed is in place and connected, we:
- Check supply voltage and the circuit.
- Run every wavelength (630, 660, 810, 850 and 940 nm) in continuous and pulsed modes.
- Check the touchscreen, presets and usage log.
- Run a full test session and confirm the fans and cooling behave as expected.
Step 6: Staff training
A half-day session for your team covers:
- Starting, pausing and ending sessions, and setting presets.
- Guest screening and when to refer a guest to their doctor.
- Eyewear use for every session.
- Cleaning the acrylic between guests and daily and weekly checks.
- What you can and cannot claim about results. See red light therapy safety.
Step 7: Go-live
After training, the bed is ready for bookings. With 10 to 20 minute sessions and changeover, one bed serves up to about 3 guests an hour. If anything comes up after launch, our team handles it under your service and warranty cover.
