Most operators ask the same few things before they buy: what it costs, whether their room and power can take it, and what they can safely say to guests. The short version: the Superhuman Light R1 is $29,900 installed, needs a dedicated 40 A circuit and a room of about 3.0 × 2.2 m, and is sold as a wellness device, not a medical treatment.
Buying & prices
How much does the R1 cost?
$29,900. Delivery, installation, commissioning, half-day training, eyewear and a 2-year parts and labour warranty are included. There is no separate install fee for a standard ground-floor site.
How does that compare with other beds?
Commercial entry beds usually cost $15–30k. Premium commercial beds and pods run $60–150k. Home beds cost $1.4–22k and are not built for a full day of bookings. See the red light therapy bed cost guide for the full breakdown.
Why do you publish prices?
Because you should not need a sales call to find out if a bed fits your budget. The listed price is indicative until you receive a written quote.
How fast can a bed pay for itself?
It depends on your session price and bookings. An illustrative example: $60 per session × 6 sessions a day comes to about $93,600 a year in revenue. Run your own numbers with the ROI calculator.
Home vs commercial
Can I buy the R1 for home use?
The R1 is built and priced for commercial use. It needs a 40 A circuit that many homes do not have spare. More Superhuman models are on the way.
What makes a bed “commercial”?
Duty cycle, build and support. A commercial bed is designed to run many sessions a day, with parts, service and a warranty that cover business use.
The R1
What wavelengths does it use?
Five: 630, 660, 810, 850 and 940 nm, across about 36,000 LEDs. Read more on red light therapy wavelengths.
How strong is it?
About 100 mW/cm² at the acrylic surface. An independent measurement is supplied with your quote.
How long is a session?
10 to 20 minutes. With changeover, one bed serves up to about 3 guests an hour.
Does it have pulsed mode?
Yes. The R1 runs continuous and pulsed modes, with per-wavelength control and session presets.
Room & power
What power does it need?
A dedicated 208–240 V single-phase circuit on a 40 A breaker. It draws about 5.5 kW.
What does it cost to run?
About $60–120 per month in electricity at typical commercial use.
Does the room need AC?
Ventilation or AC is recommended. LED beds give off heat, and a small closed room warms up over a full day.
Installation & training
What does installation involve?
A site check, your electrician’s circuit, delivery, positioning, commissioning and staff training. Most R1 installs take one day on site. See installation.
How long until delivery?
Typically a few weeks. We confirm the date when you order.
Is training included?
Yes, a half-day session for your team covering operation, cleaning, guest screening and daily checks.
Safety & claims
Is red light therapy safe?
LED red light is non-UV and generally well tolerated, but it is not right for everyone. Guests who are pregnant, photosensitive, on photosensitizing medication or under medical care should check with their doctor. See red light therapy safety.
Do guests need eye protection?
Yes. Protective eyewear is included and should be worn every session.
What can I claim about results?
Keep it to wellness, relaxation, recovery routines and skin appearance. Research on photobiomodulation is active and mixed. Some specific devices hold FDA 510(k) clearance for specific uses. Do not tell guests the bed treats, cures or heals any condition.
Is the R1 FDA cleared?
We do not claim FDA clearance for the R1. Regulatory and electrical documentation comes with your written quote. You can check any device’s clearance in the FDA 510(k) database.
Financing
Can I lease or finance?
Yes. An estimated lease is about $620 per month over 60 months, on approved credit. See financing.
Are there tax benefits?
Equipment may qualify for Section 179 deductions. Rules change and depend on your business, so consult your tax advisor.
Service & warranty
What does the warranty cover?
Two years of parts and labour on the R1, for defects in normal commercial use. See service and warranty.
Do the LEDs need replacing?
No bulbs to swap. The LEDs are rated for 50,000+ hours.
